(Wo)man in the mirror – new Burt’s Bees campaign

As some of you may know, I bat for both teams so to speak when it comes to blogging – I am a ‘blogger’ (when I have time!) and in my day job, I work in online PR/social media, which involves talking to bloggers on behalf of brands. It’s becoming more and more interesting learning about the blogging world from these opposing perspectives. Blogging (writing, really) is my passion and my hobby and I do it for the love of it. But being a blogger also now gives me a really interesting new perspective on my day job. Anyway, that’s a whole other story!

The reason I’m writing this post today is that, through my day job, I was told about a new Burt’s Bees social media campaign and have been asked if I could help spread the word about it. Now I wouldn’t normally write about any of our clients on my own blog as like to keep it quite separate from my work life. Plus the products usually wouldn’t fit. But in this case, I’m honestly a big fan of Burt’s Bees and am really intrigued  by the upcoming campaign as it’s all about ‘beauty the natural way’.

So, what the Burt’s Bees folk are looking for is a lovely lady to volunteer to trial some products from their anti-blemish range and talk about your progress live through your own mirror…sounds a bit odd, but bear with me. So basically you’ll be set up at home with a mirror with a camera installed to film your daily beauty routine and stream it live to the Burt’s Bees site, recording your thoughts on the products.  In return you get a year’s supply of Burt’s Bees products. If I was less camera shy (and not such a terrible morning person) I might consider doing it myself!

Alas, I can barely muster up a ‘have a good day’ to my boyfriend in the mornings and I come across like a complete buffoon on camera. But if you or anyone you know does feel comfortable in front of a camera (or camera-mirror) and would like to get your 15 minutes of fame, trial some natural products and bag yourself a year’s worth of Burt’s Bees goodies, check out the Burt’s Bees Facebook page for the full entry details. Entries need to be submitted by Sunday this week so you better get cracking!
